Fundraising Dinner for Convicted “Virginia Jihad” Terrorist
Brings Islamic Extremists to Falls Church Mosque
OK to beat your wife according to one featured speaker
Falls Church, VA – A planned Saturday night fundraising dinner at the Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center on Route 7 in Falls Church will feature several radical Islamic speakers in a program to raise money for Sabri Benkhala who is serving a 10-year term in a federal prison for perjury, obstruction of justice and lying to the FBI.
According to a February 5, 2007 statement from the Department of Justice, “Benkahla was convicted of making materially false statements both in his grand jury appearances in 2004, as well as to the FBI in 2004. These false statements included his denial of his involvement with an overseas jihad training camp in 1999, as well as his asserted lack of knowledge about individuals with whom he was in contact.”
The Dar Al Hijrah dinner will include:
· Dr. Jamal Badawi of Canada – a Koranic scholar who frequently quotes the Koran which says "As to those women on whose part you fear disloyalty and ill conduct, admonish them (first), (next) refuse to share their beds (and last) beat them (lightly)." (Koran 4:34)
· Imam Rodwaan Saleh of Texas – an official of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) which was identified by federal prosecutors as an “unindicted co-conspirator” with ties to the radical Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas.
A coalition of Virginia organizations including the Virginia Anti-Shariah Task Force, Radio Free Dar Al Harb, ACT Northern Virginia and others have protested the dinner.
James Lafferty, chairman of the Virginia Anti-Shariah Task Force, called the dinner a “Bucks for Bombers Benefit” and said it should be cancelled.
“Dar Al Hijrah is the one common thread in the backgrounds of many who have committed terrorist attacks,” said Lafferty. “While many of Virginia’s young men and women were volunteering to fight terrorists in the Middle East, Mr. Benkhala and the rest of the jihadists wanted to join the terrorists.
“Responsible Muslim leaders need to condemn Dar Al Hijrah and all who provide aid, comfort and encouragement to our enemies. Terrorist training camps are not protected by the First Amendment and neither are those who participate in or support them.
“While the Dar Al Hijrah revelers are offering toasts to convicted terrorists and chewing down, some young Virginia serviceman or woman will be eating a prepackaged cold meal and preparing to risk their lives and go on patrol in Afghanistan or Iraq. Those of us who can’t serve in the Middle East have a responsibility not to sit silently and watch the radical enemies of freedom raise money for terror here at home.
“We will continue to focus public attention on the role played by Dar Al
Hijrah and those American politicians who collaborate with radical Islam for PAC
money.”
